Peterson is a junior at the University of Eastern Michigan with the ability to catch and play the outfield. The Tampa Bay Rays made Peterson a 50th round pick in the 2008 amateur draft. Peterson chose to instead attend Chandler-Gilbert Community College in Central Arizona. Drove in 42 runs over his two seasons, starting all but two games at CGCC. Got off to a fast start to his first D-I season hitting four home runs in the first months of the Eastern Michigan season. A communications major at Eastern Michigan, Peterson won a state championship as a senior at Hamilton High School in Chandler, AZ .
