Caravella made 24 relief appearances and one start for the Panthers in 2011. He concluded the season with a 4-3 record. Alex chalked up 55 strikeouts and walked just 18 batters in 57.1 innings. He closed five games for Pitt this past spring Caravella posted a 4.34 ERA in his freshman campaign at Pitt. The lefty went undefeated with a 2-0 record. He tossed 47.1 innings for the Panthers. Caravella helped his team to a Group 3 state championship as a junior. Alex garnered all-league, Group 3, and county honors in his final three seasons in high school.
