Freshman- Started 4 times for the eagles while appearing in 9 games during 2008. He finished the year with 27.1 innings, a 2-1 record, and a 3.62 ERA. He recorded 15 strike outs and held opponents to a .237 batting average. In FGCU’s first ever conference series he was chosen as the A-Sun player f the week due to his 8 inning, 11 strike outs, 2 run performance against UNF. Richie was chosen to the A-Sun All Freshman team. He will return as a top starter for eagles in 2009. Prep: 2007 graduate of Palm Beach Central High School where he played under Coach Benedict…Bright Futures Scholarship award winner.
