James signed on with the University of North Carolina- Greensboro after high school and stepped right into a relief role as a freshman. After his productive first year (5 -1 record, 38 appearances and a 4.96 ERA) James transferred to the West Virginia University baseball program. By changing schools he had to sit out this past season with the Mountaineers but will still have three seasons of eligibility left. He should get plenty of innings with the Bombers this summer to make up for his lack of action with WVU.
