The tall right-hander is currently completing his first Division I spring with Indiana State where he is the team's Sunday starter in Missouri Valley Conference play. Heading into the conference tournament, Van Skike is 3-3 with a 4.65 ERA in 13 outings and 11 starts. Prior to ISU, Van Skike spent two seasons at Treasure Valley Community College in Ontario, Ore. Last spring, he finished 4-3 with a 2.11 earned run average in 11 appearances and 59.2 innings of work. He played wood bat baseball last summer with the Midnight Sun Goldpanners of the Alaskan League. In five appearances he posted a 6.86 ERA in 19.2 innings. Van Skike was a Cy Young Award winner during his senior season at Gig Harbor High School.
